Beautiful Sunset

Sometimes it pays to be patient.

I captured this image at just after a recent sunset at Paint Mines Park near Calhan, Colorado. But I had thought about leaving a few moments earlier just as I had seen others do.

The skies looked cloudy and dull and it didn’t appear that anything spectacular would happen. It seemed like it would be best to pack up and head for home.

But then the last of the sun’s rays broke through the clouds and illuminated the native grasses and Indian Paintbrush! It was a beautiful moment in the stillness of the prairie, and I experienced firsthand that sometimes, good things really do come to those who wait.
